The San Angelo Cowboy Symposium and Celebration features some of the best western entertainers in the region. Listed below are some of the great performers we have had in the past and you can bet your boots there will be more of the same this year!

 Allen Wayne Damron - Austin, Texas

One of only nine performers officially designated by the Texas Legislatures as "Goodwill Ambassador " and it won't take you find out why…it's his ability to entertain, any audience, anywhere! Allen Damron has entertained audiences around the world and is considered one of Texas greatest entertainers.  Paul Davidson - Levelland, Texas

Paul is not a stranger around these parts as a mater of fact he is one of the performers that folks keep askin' us to have back every year. He plays a beautiful guitar and writes some of the prettiest ballads you'll ever hear. He has also just completed his second album "The Silver Spur Hotel.."  Sam Davis- Abilene, Texas

Sam Davis was born in a small frame house on what is now the Deprang Ranch abut 40 mile south of Abilene. It was these roots and the love of he history and heritage of West Texas that prompted him to begin writing poetry. Today Sam is one of Texas' most popular speakers, enthralling audiences in schools, churches and cowboy gatherings around the nation. He is the author of the "The Cowboy Christmas Story," and illustrated chapbook Sam says is the "most important piece of poetry I ever wrote." 

 

 Judy James - Weatherford, Texas

This cowgirl singer has a CD produced by Rich O' Bryan and boy is it a dandy! You may have caught her at one of State Park campfire concerts where she was a big hit. One of her many talents, besides hosting here own weekly radio show, is keeping the west alive though music. Judy is also the president of the Western Music Lone Star Chapter. Mike Loving - Cowboy Poet

 Mike Loving - Carlsbad, TX

From dude wrangler, mule driver, horse wrangler to horse trainer this is one of San Angelo's cowboys that has earned the right to wear a white hat. He specializes in original cowboy poetry, traditional and modern cowboy songs, storytelling, and Christian entertainment. He's been writing his own poetry for several years and been published in Western Horseman. Ya gotta come hear his poetry they Cowboys, Turkalopes and other Mythical Creatures

 

  The Pards - San Angelo, TX

The history and the music of the Old West have influenced the cowboy duo Pards, featuring Roger Banks and Hayden Whittington. In helping to keep that old west spirit alive, they sing authentic trail songs from the late 1800's to the harmony of the Western movies. They even recite humorous poetry rustled from some best cowboy poets around today!

 Jean Prescott- Ovalo, Texas

Born in Amarillo, but living most of her life in West Texas, Jean Prescott spent most of her youth helping on the small family ranch and now owns the last remaining mares from her father's broodmare band. She has deep roots in the western way of life and a strong desire to preserve that heritage through her lifestyle and music. A multiple award winning western music entertainer and recording artist she has been the featured entertainer at the Lincoln County Cowboy Symposium in Ruidoso, NM, the Western Heritage Classic Abilene, TX, and the Texas Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Alpine, TX. She has been the Female Entertainer of the year with the Western Music Association and won the Academy of Western Artists album of the year for her CD "Prairie Flowers."  Ed Stabler- Mertzon, Texas

Ed's performances of Western Music bring new and exciting insights to the builders of the West, as we know it today. His music encompasses the broad spectrum of the past and present West as he sings songs of Lawmen, Outlaws, Women Cowboys, Ranchers, Framers Railroaders and Ghost whose stories make up the West. The Academy of Western Artists have honored Ed with nominations for eight awards including Instrumentalist of the Year. When he's not training horses or raising hay you can find him honing is picking skills on handcrafted guitar. You'll enjoy his perspective of the American west.

Jim Wilson - Singer and Writer

 Sheriff Jim Wilson - Mertzon, Texas

Jim is a native Texan who was born in Austin and raised in San Antonio. For nearly 30 years, he served as Texas Peace Officer in Denton and Crockett Counties. Some ten years ago he began to supplement his law enforcement income by writing articles for varioius gun magazines. He is currently a full-time writer for Shooting Times, Handloader and working on his first western novel. Wilson began playing folk and country music while attending TCU. However, his earliest musical recollections were of his father singing the old cowboy songs. He naturally returned to those musical roots and we think he's hit his stride.
